WoodPlan Products : Forest Records

WoodPlan Forest Records is equally suited to the management of mixed amenity woodland as it is for large commercial plantations. The software is modular so we are able to supply a system best suited to your needs. It may be supplied for use as single user or over a network for multi-user access.

Base Features
These are some of the base features of Forest Records. We provide a wide and flexible range from which users may choose those which are best suited to their management objectives.
• Physical information about each compartment as geographic units.
• Compartments may be linked with and queried from major GIS systems
• Facilities to record up to six conservation categories and ancient monuments
• Terrain classifications may be recorded to help calculate harvesting costs
• Component species recorded per compartment may be described by storey
• Facilities to record herbaceous understorey and site visit notes
• Inventory / stocking information recorded by species and age
• Timber volumes calculated by a choice of six methods
• Volume estimates may be calculated from species, age and Yield Class
• Facilities to set up thinning and felling policy
• Facilities to record actual thinnings and fellings per compartment
• History of previous stocking data retained to record biodiversity change

Forecasting Features
The forecasting module is one of the most sophisticated ever produced for the UK and Ireland. It allows you ‘grow on’ your standing crop and provides information about tree or log output over the years. It has great user flexibility in that you can decide when to thin or fell each component per compartment and what to retain.

While it is based on widely used models it works by using your actual stocking data rather than those chosen from the nearest available model.

We do provide similar systems for other geographic areas and species where we can obtain local growth model data.

• Thinning and felling output per year as physical volumes
• Financial output either as specified log categories or as whole trees
• Extraction costs included and made dependant on terrain classes.
• Ability to calculate Net Present Values and Internal Rates of Return

Valuation Features
• Market Categories may be set up as either standing trees or logs
• Prices may be set up depended on area, species, quality and extraction.

Work Recording Features
• Jobs and costs may be recorded generally or per compartment
• Allows for recording labour, materials and equipment costs
• Budgets may be set up and maintained
• Stock control to monitor use of restricted substances.
• Job specific rates may be set per employee / contractor
